Dhrepung monastery
The Dhrepung monastery is the largest Buddhist monastery in the world, housing over 10,000 monks prior to the Chinese occupation. It currently houses about 700. The monastery overlooks Lhasa, and sits at 12,500 feet, the highest altitude we climbed during our visit.
